Eagles' Westbrook Has Fractured Ribs

POSTED: 9:50 am PDT October 6, 2008

(Sports Network) - Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook suffered fractured ribs on Sunday against Washington and his status for this week's game against San Francisco is uncertain.

"We'll see how it works out for him," Eagles head coach Andy Reid said about Westbrook's availability for the week.

Despite the injury, which apparently occurred in the first quarter, Westbrook finished the game with 33 yards on 12 carries and a team-best six catches for 51 yards.

This is the second injury for Westbrook this season. He hurt his right ankle in the Week 3 victory over Pittsburgh, an injury that forced him to miss the following game against Chicago.

In four games this season for the 2-3 Eagles, Westbrook has run for 194 yards and four touchdowns on 54 carries. He is also the team's second-leading receiver with 14 catches for 97 yards and two scores.
