Officer Shoots Knife-Wielding Man At Restaurant
Man Who Allegedly Had Knife At Jack In The Box Shot By El Cajon Police Officer

EL CAJON, Calif. -- An El Cajon police officer Friday shot a man who allegedly threatened a pedestrian with a large hunting knife outside a fast-food restaurant.The man was shot around 10:40 a.m. outside Jack in the Box at Second Street and Madison Avenue, said El Cajon police Lt. Mark Coit.Police began getting reports about a man waving a knife, and nine-year veteran motorcycle Officer Nick Spreccho was the first to arrive, Coit said.
The officer -- the son of ECPD Chief Pat Spreccho -- ordered the man to drop the knife, and when the suspect advanced on him instead, the officer shot him several times, according to the lieutenant.The man underwent surgery at a hospital for gunshot wounds to the upper body and legs. His name and condition were not immediately available.
