SAN DIEGO -- Three rewards totaling $16,000 are on offer Wednesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the "Geezer Bandit," a retirement-age robber responsible for armed holdups at five San Diego-area banks since summer.

The thin, gray-haired man who appears to be in his 70s most recently struck Monday evening at a Bank of America branch on Girard Avenue in La Jolla, according to the FBI.

Previous heists attributed to the man, who got his moniker from detectives, occurred Oct. 26 at a Bank of America branch on Avenida de Acacias in Rancho Santa Fe; Oct. 9 at a US Bank on Carmel Mountain Road in Torrey Hills; Sept. 12 at a San Diego National Bank on Ivanhoe Avenue in La Jolla; and Aug. 28 at a US Bank on Mission Gorge Road in Santee.

During several of the robberies, the stubble-faced thief displayed a pistol while demanding cash, the FBI reported. Surveillance cameras have captures images of the bandit.
