Man Who Admitted Killing Teen To Be Sentenced

SAN DIEGO -- A 22-year-old man who admitted killing a 17-year-old boy in a gang-related shooting in Valencia Park was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday.Lamar Jovan Neal pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon in the March 2006 death of Darnell King Jr. in the 5300 block of San Onofre Terrace.King was in a group outside a home when several armed assailants, including Neal, walked up and opened fire. The youth died at the scene and another person was wounded.
King's family said he was not a gang member.
