Escondido Mobile Home Fire Extinguished

ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- A mobile home fire Monday morning in north Escondido led to traffic problems near several nearby schools, police said.Escondido police received several reports of a fire involving a mobile home in the 700 block of Stanley Avenue around 7:30 a.m., according to Escondido police Lt. Mike Loarie.Officers and Escondido firefighters were sent to the area, which includes several horse properties and other wide-open spaces.
"There was a lot of thick, black smoke visible from police headquarters and we're about 3.5 miles away," Loarie said.Escondido and Calvin Christian high schools, along with Rincon Middle School and North Broadway and Reidy Creek elementary schools, were notified that traffic was impacted by the fire, Loarie said.Southbound lanes of North Ash Street were closed at Stanley Avenue and the northbound lanes were closed at Lahner Avenue until further notice.No other details about the fire were immediately released.
