A fire Monday scorched about a quarter-acre of brush next to a freeway transition ramp in Kearny Mesa, authorities said.

The non-injury fire near eastbound State Route 52 transition ramp to southbound Interstate 15 was reported around 8:45 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher. The flames were reported out less than 20 minutes later.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. The ramp was closed for about 30 minutes while fire crews battled the flames.
