3 People, 1 Dog Displaced After Condo Fire

POSTED: 4:03 am PST November 2, 2009

Three people and their dogs were displaced Sunday following a fire at their condominium in Palm City, authorities said.

The non-injury fire at 2518 Caminito Espino was reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to control the blaze, she said.

The fire displaced two adults, a girl and their two dogs.

Witnesses said the blaze began in a vehicle parked in a garage and flames quickly spread to the family's two-story condominium. Investigators deemed it was caused by some sort of equipment failure inside the vehicle, according to the dispatcher.

Damage was estimated at $25,000 to property and $40,000 to content, she said.

The Red Cross was dispatched to the scene to assist the family with temporary housing.
