Woman Threatening To Jump From SR-94 Overpass Slips, Falls

POSTED: 1:32 pm PDT October 28, 2009
UPDATED: 11:46 am PDT October 29, 2009

A woman standing on the outer side of an overpass railing above State Route 94, prompting the closure of lanes in both directions, slipped and fell onto the roadway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The incident began shortly after 1:30 p.m., and authorities responded to the scene and attempted to talk the woman off the Lemon Grove Avenue overpass. All lanes on westbound SR-94 were shut down at State Route 125 due to the incident. Traffic on eastbound SR-94 was diverted at Massachusetts Avenue.

Shortly before 4 p.m. deputies said the woman slipped and fell on to the eastbound side of SR-94.

The woman survived the fall and was taken away by an ambulance.

Her condition was not released.

After the woman was removed from the scene, lanes on both sides of SR-94 were opened by the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities confirmed that the woman was not the same person who threatened to jump from the pedestrian bridge over northbound Interstate 5 at Pershing Drive last week.
