Two men attacked a third man with a 3-foot-long decorative metal rod in Escondido, slightly injuring him during a fight over excessive noise at an apartment complex, police said.

The attack in the area of North Citrus Avenue and Wanek Road was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, Escondido police Sgt. Mike Graesser said.

A 24-year-old parolee was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, while the second assailant fled before officers arrived, according to police.

The man who was attacked did not require hospitalization, Graesser said.
