SAN DIEGO -- A 22-year-old active duty sailor who was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking across the street in Chula Vista has died, authorities said Tuesday.

The sailor died Monday afternoon at UCSD Medical Center from injuries he suffered shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday while crossing Broadway and McIntosh Street, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The sailor's name was not immediately released.
