Descanso Shooting Leaves One Dead

SAN DIEGO -- An 18-year-old man is dead and his father's girlfriend was wounded after the woman's estranged husband shot them, saying he thought they were burglars trying to break into his home in Descanso.Authorities said Gary Sanner called 911 at about 2 a.m. Saturday to report someone was breaking into his house. A dispatcher soon heard two shotgun blasts.San Diego County sheriff's deputies arrived and found 18-year-old Joe Eric Burton II dead from a gunshot wound outside a window of Sanner's house. Jennifer Sanner was wounded but is expected to survive.
Sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos said Jennifer Sanner left phone messages for her estranged husband on Friday, asking for property from the house.No one has been arrested in the case, which is under investigation.
