SAN DIEGO -- A family in Encanto is thankful no one was hurt after a freak accident. On Monday night, a large ball of ice crashed through the roof of the Onpeng home and landed on David Onpeng's bed. Onpeng wasn't home at the time, but his family members were downstairs talking. Onpeng's uncle said he was shocked to find a gaping hole in the ceiling and large balls of broken ice on the floor."At first I thought it was a diamond or something," said John Onpeng.
"It's a rare occurence but not an unheard of occurence to have ice form on the exterior on an airplane and ice to fall from out there," said San Diego Aerospace Museum spokesman Rich Martindell.Martindell said the ice may have come from a descending plane, and planes do fly over the Onpeng home towards Lindbergh Field.
