SAN DIEGO - Homicide detectives were searching for two people Wednesday after finding a woman dead inside an apartment in San Diego's Chollas Creek neighborhood.

Detectives said the two people they're looking for had been staying in the apartment.

The apartment's resident returned from a weekend away and called police around 7 p.m. Tuesday after finding the body on the floor in a bedroom of the apartment in the 5100 block of University Avenue, said Lt. Ernie Herbert of the San Diego Police Department's homicide unit.

"The resident of the apartment had left for the weekend, leaving his adult son, the victim and an adult friend to in the apartment for the weekend," Herbert said.

"The resident returned home this evening to find the deceased female and the two men gone. The resident called the police."

Investigators have not determined the cause or time of the victim's death or when the son and his friend left the one-bedroom apartment and the victim has not yet been identified, he said.

Detectives were searching the apartment for evidence and interviewing residents of the apartment complex, Herbert said.
