SAN DIEGO - A woman who threatened to jump from the Adams Avenue overpass into Texas Canyon on Saturday -- prompting police to briefly close the street below -- was taken into custody, police said.

The woman was spotted outside the bridge's suicide-prevention fence about 12:15 p.m., according to San Diego police Officer Frank Cali. She was taken into custody shortly before 12:30 p.m., he said.

Officers briefly shut down Texas Street in both directions under the bridge, south of Camino del Rio, Cali said.

Cali said the woman would likely be taken to county Mental Health Services.
