LA MESA - A woman took her car onto the San Diego Trolley line in La Mesa and then drove down the tracks for several blocks and into a station early Friday morning was caught before causing any serious issues.
At about 2:15 a.m., a California Highway Patrol (CHP) trooper noticed a Chrysler driving south on the trolley tracks near La Mesa Boulevard.
The trooper began following the car along Spring Street, which runs parallel to the tracks. CHP reports that he contacted dispatch and directed them to shut down all train traffic.
The woman entered the High Street Trolley Station and stopped, allowing the trooper to rush in and arrest her.
Troopers moved the vehicle, and trolley cars were allowed to resume their routes.
The suspect faces drunken driving charges.
