Woman survives El Cajon RV explosion, fire

An RV was destroyed after an explosion and blaze early Tuesday morning in El Cajon.

The incident occurred before 1:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Sandalwood Drive. The owner told 10News that the explosion occurred when she tried to start the RV, but was able to escape without any serious injury. However, most of her belongings were destroyed.

"By the time I got out 10 feet, it had blew up," Christine Prato said.

Firefighters with Heartland Fire & Rescue said they responded to find the RV engulfed in flames. It also sparked a small nearby grass fire.

The RV was towed to a nearby lot.

The cause is under investigation.
