SAN YSIDRO - Emergency crews rescued a woman who fell about 20 feet and got stuck in a steep embankment in San Ysidro Friday.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department received a call about the woman at around 3:30 a.m.

10News learned that a Border Patrol agent was in the area when he heard calls for help.

Fire units assembled at Hollister Street and Monument Road before proceeding with the rescue.

At about 5 a.m., crews were able to hoist the woman out of the embankment using a rope and she was carried through steep terrain.

The woman was rushed to an area hospital.

It was unclear what the woman was doing in the area, but 10News learned she was alone.
