SAN MARCOS, Calif. - A 47-year-old woman was seriously injured after her sedan was broadsided by another car as she turned onto a San Marcos street, sheriff's officials said Saturday.
The woman was turning left from southbound Avenida Chapala onto Mission Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday when her Dodge sedan was hit by a westbound Honda sedan driven by an 18-year-old man, according to sheriff's Deputy Agustin Rosas.
The Honda struck the driver's side of the Dodge, Rosas said. It was unclear how fast either vehicle was travelling prior to the crash.
San Marcos fire personnel extracted the woman from the wrecked sedan and she was taken to Palomar Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries, Rosas said.
The case remained under investigation on Saturday, he said.
