According to Sheriff's Deputy Ken Werner, the woman was pushing a two-and-a-half-year-old boy east across the 2800 block of North Emerald Drive, near Chasin Street, about 9:10 p.m.

Werner said she did not see the oncoming southbound vehicle until it was too late, but was able to push the stroller out of the way.

The vehicle's passenger side mirror struck the woman and knocked her to the ground. She was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The boy was not injured. He was released to his mother, who was on scene.

No word if the vehicle's driver was cited in connection with the crash.
