ESCONDIDO, Calif. - A 20-year-old woman was fatally injured when her car struck a deer on San Pasqual Road and veered into oncoming traffic, where it was broadsided by a SUV, police said Saturday.
The woman was headed west in a 1999 Ford Mustang when she struck the deer near state Route 78 about 7:30 p.m. Friday, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.
The Mustang crossed into eastbound traffic and was hit broadside by a Ford Explorer, whose driver was uninjured, he said.
The Mustang driver died at the scene. Her name has not been released by authorities, but friends identified her as Marley Pineda.
