Woman jumps from balcony at Mission Valley apartment to escape man with stun gun

Suspected attacker taken into custody, police say

SAN DIEGO - A woman was forced to jump from a second-story balcony Wednesday after a man used a stun gun on her, but the alleged attacker was later taken into custody, San Diego police said.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. at the River Run Village Apartments. Police told 10News the 30-year-old woman heard knocking on her door and answered, but an unidentified man -- who she does not know -- forced his way inside and began to stun her with a stun gun.

The woman screamed and jumped from the second-story balcony to get away from the man, police said.

Once she landed, she continued to run, with the man giving chase, police said. The woman was able to get to a phone and called police.

The man was captured by officers a short time later in the complex, 10News learned.

Police said the man had a bag with him that contained a stun gun and a hatchet.
