Woman hospitalized after head-on collision in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS - A 27-year-old San Diego woman was hospitalized Friday with several broken bones following a head-on collision in San Marcos, authorities said.

The accident in the 800 block of West Borden Road was reported at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Charles Morreale.

The woman was driving a 2005 Honda Civic eastbound when she collided head-on with a 20-year-old San Marcos woman headed west in a Ford F-150 pickup, Morreale said, noting one of the women drifted over a double yellow line just prior to the crash.

It was not immediately clear what caused the driver to drift, though the deputy said neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have been factors in the crash.

Paramedics took the Honda driver to Palomar Medical Center, where she was admitted with multiple fractures to her right leg and left arm, according to Morreale. The driver of the Ford was uninjured, he said.
