Woman hit, killed by Coaster train in Del Mar identified

DEL MAR, Calif (KGTV) -- A woman who was struck and killed by a Coaster train during rush hour on October 15 has been identified as 57-year-old Loretta West.

Both West and her dog were killed when they were hit by a northbound Coaster train on 11th Street in Del Mar.

Deputies on scene said the Coaster was traveling roughly 48 miles per hour when it struck the woman as she attempted to cross the tracks.
