Woman found dead in Spring Valley home, roommate in custody

SPRING VALLEY - A man is in custody in connection with a woman’s death at a home in Spring Valley Tuesday evening.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, at about 6:45 p.m. the woman was discovered dead by her female roommate at their residence in the 600 block of Parkbrook Street. The victim had traumatic injuries, the sheriff’s department said.

Deputies arrived and found a man -- later identified as the victim’s roommate -- with self-inflicted lacerations on his wrists from what may have been an attempted suicide.

The man was initially taken to a hospital for treatment. He was then taken into custody, the sheriff’s department said. However, he was returned to the hospital, where he remained as of Wednesday morning. He has not officially been charged.

Detectives at the scene said the suspect was in a relationship with the woman who discovered the victim. All three lived at the home together.

No names have been released. Homicide and forensics detectives are investigating.
