SAN DIEGO - An 18-year-old woman escaped from an attempted kidnapping and possible attempted rape in Encinitas on Monday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman was walking in the 500 Block of Saxony Road toward Puebla Street at about 1:30 p.m. when a young man – possibly a teenager – pulled her inside a pickup truck with two other men.

Sheriff's Lt. Dan Brislin told 10News, "While inside the truck, the victim struggled and fought off her assailant, reportedly bit one of the suspects and was able to free herself from the truck and ultimately ran to a nearby residence for help. The suspects fled the scene."

Deputies walked Saxony Road, looking for clues while others checked local emergency rooms for anyone seeking treatment for a bite to an ear as well as trying to track down the pickup truck involved.

The truck was described as an older model small black pickup with horizontal orange stripes on the fenders and gardening equipment in the back.

The Sheriff's Department released sketches of the three suspects late Monday evening.

The truck's driver was described as a heavyset Hispanic man who was about 30 to 40 years old (Suspect #2 in sketch). The other passenger was a thin Hispanic man who was about 25 to 35 years old (Suspect #1 in sketch). The one who grabbed the woman was also thin – perhaps still a teenager – and either white or Hispanic (Suspect #3 in sketch).

The victim told deputies she also punched the driver before escaping. She indicated that she suffered no physical injuries.
