Woman arrested after sending car onto embankment

Officers caught a driver who fled after she allegedly sent her car teetering on the edge of an embankment in University City Tuesday morning.

According to San Diego police, sometime before 1 a.m. the driver crashed her Volkswagen through a dead end wooden barrier at the north tip of Regents Road, near Lahitte Court.

She got out and ran away, but was found a few blocks away, unhurt.

The woman was arrested on drunken driving charges. Her name was not released.
