Oceanside, Calif. - A Tennessee woman accused of stabbing her cousin to death during a family gathering in Oceanside was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
25 year old Lashauna Shatrell Blanks is accused of stabbing Jerry Faulkner in the chest outside his parents' condominium in the 400 block of Los Arbolitos Boulevard last December.
Paramedics took the 35-year-old victim to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was pronounced dead.
Blanks was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with murder.
Among those attending the get-together were four of Faulkner's children, ages 1 to 14, and Blanks' two, who are 1 and 3.
It is unclear if any of the kids witnessed the attack, according to Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Mata.
Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the murder.
Following today's hearing, a judge will determine if there is enough evidence for Blanks to stand trial.
