Winds topple massive tree in Alpine

ALPINE - Strong winds brought down a large tree onto a roadway in the Alpine area in the early morning hours Monday.

The tree came down at the intersection of Viejas View Lane and Willows Road. No one was hurt. The intersection was closed for several hours.

Crews were on scene and expected to reopen the intersection by 7 a.m.

Meanwhile, San Diego Gas & Electric reported that an outage knocked out power to 1,863 customers at about 4:30 a.m. in the Ramona area. Power was restored by about 6:30 a.m. The cause of the outage was not confirmed.
