Low Pressure Expected To Bring Gusty Winds, High Surf, Strong Rip Currents

A trough of low pressure is expected to bring gusty winds to the mountains and deserts of San Diego County later Monday as well as 3-foot to 6-foot surf and strong rip currents along the coast.

According to the National Weather Service, the trough of low pressure will move inland through Tuesday.A wind advisory is scheduled for the mountains and deserts from 3 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday.During the advisory period, there will be 20 to 30 mile per hour sustained winds and gusts up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.Winds are expected to be strongest late Monday night."The winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high profile vehicles," according to a Weather Service advisory. "Watch for broken tree limbs and downed power lines."A coastal flood advisory is scheduled to be in effect from 5 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday.The Weather Service forecasts 3- to 4-foot south swells building throughout the advisory period. That could produce surf heights of 3 to 6 feet along south-facing beaches."There will also be strong rip currents this afternoon through Monday," according to an NWS advisory.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
