BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV)--The folks at Wild Wonders animal education program have started a crowdfunding effort for a very special member of their animal ambassador team.

A GoFundMe has been establishedand is close to meeting its goal of $5,000 to pay for the diagnostic testing of Penelope, a porcupine who is diagnosed with a congenital disorder.

"Her symptoms have been getting worse the last several days," the description on the online fundraising page said. "She is dragging her back legs and acting erratically."

And that is very out of character for the sweet, gentle girl.

The group says that they have hope that Penelope will recover but, understandably, they need to know what's changed with the porcupine sooner rather than later.

"Our girl Pen has such a special place in our hearts and any help would be tremendously appreciated" wrote the staff and volunteers at Wild Wonders.
