CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Authorities are searching for the suspects responsible for poisoning three dogs to death in the Otay Ranch neighborhood of Chula Vista earlier this year.

According to Chula Vista police, the incidents occurred over a one-week period in April.

On April 7, a family found a dog very ill after a backyard break. The dog was taken to a local veterinary hospital, where it died.

On April 13, another family found two of their dogs ill after a backyard break. The dogs were rushed to a hospital, but died while in transit.

In all three deaths, it was determined the dogs had been poisoned. Investigators believe pesticides were hidden in hotdogs or a similar food.

Crime Stoppers and the dog owners are offering a combined $2,200 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information on the case should call Chula Vista police at 619-691-5151 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
