LA JOLLA - A SeaWorld San Diego crew rescued a wandering sea lion pup that was found in La Jolla Tuesday.
The pup was spotted at 6:20 a.m. in the 7900 block of Roseland Street.
Authorities believe the pup made its way from the beach to the neighborhood, a few hundred yards away.
Resident David Archambault reported finding the sea lion as he walked outside of his house.
"I got up and got the newspaper and saw him here, and I go, "Oh my God, it's a sea lion," said Archambault.
Archambault said the pup crawled to a step and would not budge from there.
SeaWorld rescuers arrived shortly before 8 a.m. and captured the creature.
10News learned that the sea lion pup was extremely dehydrated and malnourished.
Federal wildlife officials have declared an "unusual mortality event" for the California sea lion this year after hundreds have been found stranded along the coast.
