A wealthy Missouri businessman is posing as a "Secret Santa," showering victims of Superstorm Sandy with $100 bills.

The man, who asked not to be identified, told The Associated press he plans to give away $100,000 this holiday season to victims in New York and New Jersey.

At a Salvation Army store in Staten Island, 41-year-old Janice Kennedy was overwhelmed after receiving $400.

Kennedy is unemployed and has a 2-year-old daughter. She lost her home in the storm and told AP the money will go toward Christmas presents and her toddler's next birthday.

The philanthropist took inspiration from his friend, Larry Stewart, who made a habit out of going around in disguise and handing out cash in Kansas City, the Christian Science Monitor reported.
