A 13-year-old boy in England was banned from growing a mustache as part of "Movember."

Gus Hooker, a student at Priory Academy in Bedforshire, wanted to honor his grandfather's battle with cancer as part of the month-long initiative to raise awareness and money for men's cancers, BBC News reported.

But school officials put the kabosh on the idea, telling Gus it wasn't "inclusive" of other students because most can't grow facial hair yet.

The academy has no rules about facial hair, but says it only backs fundraising events that all students can participate in.

Gus told the BBC he's been shaving since age 9 and now has to shave every day.

"It's a shame because my mustache would've raised a lot of money," he told the UK's South West News Service. "Everyone wanted me to go for it."
