NEW YORK - The group, American Atheists, announced that it posted a billboard in the Times Square area of New York City Tuesday that displays images of Santa and Jesus with the message, “Keep the merry! Dump the myth!”
According to their website, the group said the billboard is strategically positioned across from the M&M store in Times Square and will remain through Jan. 10.
In a statement, David Silverman President of American Atheists said, “We encourage people to be honest with themselves and their families this year. If you don't believe in God, tell your family -- honesty is the greatest gift, and they deserve it.”
In 2011, the group posted Holiday themed billboards in several locations nationwide that featured pictures of Neptune, Jesus, Santa Claus, and the Devil, with the words, "37 Million Americans know MYTHS when they see them. What do you see?"
