The video was shot Sunday six miles off the coast of San Diego by San Diego Whale Watchers' Melissa Galieti.
It shows blue whales – some nearly 90 feet long – coming within yards of the boat.
The exhale of one of two dozen blue whales as it made its way to the top of the water can also be heard on the video.
The blue whale gets its name from its blue hue that can be seen in the water.
Those on board tell 10News it is an excursion they will never forget.
Galieti said, "It's definitely encouraging to have this many. Their numbers are increasing, although they are still an endangered species."
San Diego Whale Watch tells 10News that the blue whales are in San Diego's waters feeding off the krill.
