Vandals hit Eastlake Little League field

CHULA VISTA - The Eastlake Little League Field where the 2013 National Little League champions practiced and played was vandalized this week.

Vandals tagged the walls, sidewalk and fence right by the field located at 1225 N Creekside Dr., off Otay Lakes Road. Damage included about half-a-dozen areas.

Eastlake Little League Board member John Haley surveyed the damage.

“A little bit of anger, but mostly disappointment that we have guys running around that want to do stuff like this,” Haley said.

“Someone disrespected the community, someone disrespected San Diego.”

Board member Mark Robertson estimates the damage will cost several thousand dollars to remove.

“To see someone come to your house and treat it this way, it’s frustrating and upsetting.  It makes you mad because someone did something to what is our personal property,” Robertson said.

The Eastlake Little League All-Star Team won the 2013 U.S. Championship in this year's Little League World Series. The team was six outs away from winning the Little League World Series but allowed three runs in the fifth inning in a 6-4 loss to the team representing the Musashi Fuchu Little League of Tokyo.
