SAN FRANCISCO - Police say a vehicle has driven straight into the San Francisco Bay, and dive teams are trying to save people believed to be inside.
San Francisco police spokesman Gordon Shyy says several urgent calls reported that someone had driven over a curb and into the bay at Marina Green at about 5 p.m. Friday.
Witnesses tell KNTV-TV the vehicle was a gold van with a woman driving.
Police say people from a civilian boat were trying to help the occupants. They were joined minutes later by divers from the police and fire departments.
U.S. Coast Guard boats and a helicopter were searching the water.
Shyy didn't immediately know how many people were inside or have any immediate word on injuries.
