WASHINGTON, D.C. - The city council in Washington, D.C. is contemplating a law that would require a 24-hour waiting period for tattoos and piercings.
The purpose of the law would be to prevent impulsive tattoos and piercings that sometimes comes after people drink alcohol.
Officials with the city's Department of Health say the matter is a public safety issue.
Tattoo artists say that the proposal could hurt businesses and that people need to to be responsible for their own actions.
