TMZ report says rapper Lil Wayne placed in coma; Friends dispute report

Rapper tweets 'I'm good everybody'

LOS ANGELES - Entertainment website TMZ.com is reporting rapper Lil Wayne is in a coma at a Los Angeles hospital after suffering multiple seizures, but associates and friends of the rapper are disputing the report.

Sources told TMZ that the rapper was initially taken to the hospital Tuesday evening due to multiple seizures.

He was released Wednesday, but rushed to the hospital again after a bodyguard found him unconscious in a room, TMZ's sources said.

TMZ's sources said the 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was placed in an induced coma. TMZ also reported his mother was on her way to Los Angeles.

However, Lil Wayne's longtime friend and associate Mack Maine took to Twitter to confirm "Wayne is alive and well!" and also tweeted, "We will be releasing an official statement shortly but dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe...that's false!!"

Mack Maine later addressed TMZ and its report, tweeting, "... don't deceive the fans or the people ..." and "... definitely don't try to kill a man before his time ..."

Just after 6 p.m., Wayne tweeted, "I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love."

Reps for the rapper confirmed he was "recovering," and a person close to the superstar rapper's camp who asked for anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter confirmed to The Associated Press that Lil Wayne had a seizure.

The New Orleans rapper is due to release his 10th album, "I Am Not a Human Being 2," on March 26.
