The parents of a Tennessee boy who was paddled eight times at school for throwing crayons and rocks have filed a lawsuit.
The boy, who was 5 years old at the time is now home-schooled because his parents said he was so traumatized.
They are seeking $1.7 million against the principal who swatted the boy, the head of the school district and the Tennessee county where the school is located.
The principal faces child abuse charges and works as a principal at another school.
According to published reports, the mother of the boy said she gave the principal verbal permission to spank her son if he acted out. But she said, the paddling was too severe and the boy sustained severe bruising.
