Border officials arrest 2 accused of smuggling drugs in undergarments

Two people were arrested this week after border agents in the Tucson, Ariz., area said they tried to smuggle drugs inside their undergarments.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, Border Patrol agents at the Interstate 19 checkpoint arrested an 18-year-old man -- a U.S. citizen -- during a vehicle inspection on April 24. The agents discovered one pound of methamphetamines hidden in his underwear.
On April 25, customs officers at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry arrested a 23-year-old female U.S. citizen after four pounds of heroin was discovered inside her bra.
Officials said the drugs had a total estimated value of $700,000.
The arrestees face possible prosecution, officials said.
