Authorities: Teacher who had student's baby charged

REDLANDS, Calif. - A Southern California high school teacher who allegedly gave birth to her student's baby has been charged with multiple felonies.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's office says Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst was charged Monday with 41 felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation of a person under 18. She's accused of committing sex acts with three boys while they were students.

Whitehurst was arrested last week on suspicion of unlawful sex with a 16-year-old and released after posting $25,000 bail.

The teacher was arrested again Monday due to new charges filed by prosecutors.

Police say the sexual relationship began last summer and continued for nearly a year. Whitehurst gave birth to a child June 18.

If convicted, she could face up to 29 years in prison.
