Some BMW owners around the U.S. are on edge after reports that some cars are catching fire without warning.

ABC News investigators revealed numerous incidents in which BMW vehicles that were reportedly parked and turned off burst into flames.

A BMW spokesman told ABC News that the automaker has looked into the fire incidents uncovered by ABC News investigators and has "not seen any pattern" related to a "product defect."

ABC News, partnering with ABC-owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Raleigh, conducted an investigation into the reported fire incidents and found more than 40 fires occurring in parked cars across the country in the last five years involving vehicles that did not have open recalls for fire-related issues.
