Two men hurt in separate San Diego shootings, suspects sought

SAN DIEGO - Police are investigating two separate drive-by shootings a couple hours apart that left two men injured Sunday.

According to San Diego police, the first shooting occurred at about 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of 63rd Street in Encanto. The second happened at 6:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Boston Avenue in Southcrest. The victims were in their 30s.

In both incidents, police said, the victims were walking along the street when an unknown man got out of a car and fired two to three rounds at them with a handgun.

The Encanto victim was taken to a local trauma center with gunshot wounds to his back and arm. The Southcrest victim was also transported to a trauma center with injuries to his hand and arm. Both are expected to survive. Their names were not released.

Police did not disclose if the shootings are possibly related or what the motive may have been.
