ENCINITAS, Calif. - A truck slammed into the front of an Encinitas home on Saturday in a suspected drunken driving crash.

The crash occurred at about 6 p.m. Saturday on at a home on Mackinnon Avenue, near Cathy Lane.

A Ford F-150 traveling at about 60 mph southbound on Orkney Lane lost control near Cathy Lane and smashed through a metal fence and brick wall before crashing into the front of the home. The truck took out the living room wall and came out the other side of the home's front door.

Deputies say at least four people ran from the truck, leaving behind a pile of empty beer cans. They were last seen running northbound from the scene and have not been located.

The owner of the home and his two children were not inside at the time of the crash. He said the children were with his mother and that he was watching a football game at a friend's house.

"Ohio State was playing against a good friend that's a Wisconsin fan so I was over there watching the game instead of watching it here at my house," he said. "I would have been right there where the truck is. I would have been right there."

He said he slept inside his car next to the hole overnight to make sure no one took anything.
