SAN DIEGO - A man suspected of driving under the influence is in jail Tuesday after slamming his truck into a Fairmount Park house and ending up just a few feet from the sleeping homeowners.

Police said the crash happened at 11:30 Monday night in the 1500 block of Bridgeview Drive.

A man driving a truck slammed into the house and went through a couple's bedroom, as well as the garage. The homeowners were sleeping at the time.

The driver told police he was trying to make a U-turn, when the car sped off on its own and even though his foot wasn't on the accelerator.

During the investigation, police found what looked like a pipe. The driver was arrested for suspected DUI.

The couple was uninjured and was in the process of cleaning up the mess early Tuesday.
