Three separate robberies reported: One attack lands man in hospital

Police searching for suspects

SAN DIEGO - Police are investigating Thursday three separate pedestrian robberies that occurred overnight.

The first of the incidents occurred in Mission Village. At 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, an armed robber held a University of Phoenix student at gunpoint at the intersection of Daley Center and Granite Ridge Drive.

Police said the student's laptop, wallet and cell phone were stolen. The suspect fled on foot.

Another man was pistol-whipped and robbed at 8:30 p.m. on Howard Avenue and Arizona Street. Police said two men held a gun to the victim's head and demanded his iPod. When the victim tried to fight, one of the suspects started pounding him in the head with a gun.

"We were in our house, and we heard someone calling for help," said Greg Gossard, who witnessed the incident. "I ran outside. I saw a guy with a hoodie being chased by the victim. They turned the block pretty fast and then lost him from there.

Police searched for suspects in a third robbery reported in the 4300 block of Iowa Street. A woman allegedly lured a man into an alley where two men robbed and hit him in the head.
