Officials At Rancho Del Rey Middle School Received Phone Call Indicating Threat

A Chula Vista school was locked down after school officials received a threat.

According to Chula Vista police dispatchers, an unknown person called Rancho Del Rey Middle School officials shortly after noon and warned he/she would "starting shooting" if students were not let out of school immediately.

School was scheduled to end Friday at 12:15 p.m.

The school was locked down and Chula Vista police officers were summoned to the scene to investigate.

School officials were keeping students inside their classrooms while officers scanned the campus for possible threats.

After a search of the campus and investigation, the threat was unfounded and the lockdown was lifted shortly before 1 p.m.
