SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some residents are on high alert because of a rash of crimes in their Paradise Hills neighborhood.

Brandon Hart told 10News that he has seen an increase in thefts in his neighborhood.

"It's a common issue. It's becoming common [and] people are starting to be worried," Hart said.

Hart added, "There's actually been a couple people that had home invasions. I have a family, a wife and kids, so safety is number one."

Hart said the crimes are shocking because "everyone around here is associated with the military."

In response to what's been going on around his neighborhood, Hart put up security cameras.

Hart ordered some expensive car parts for the supercharger on his car, and late last week, his cameras captured a FedEx driver dropping off the package.

However, minutes later, the footage shows a stranger show up to Hart's door.

"You always hear about it happening. Once it happens to you, it becomes real," said Hart.

In the video, the unknown man picks up the box and calmly walks down Hart's driveway -- disappearing with the expensive package and some of Hart's peace of mind.

"Luckily, it wasn't anything worse," Hart told 10News.

Hart said he filed a police report.

FedEx officials told 10News customers who do not want a delivery driver to leave a box outside of their home can request to have someone sign for it.

Customers can also leave special instructions, such as having the package placed behind a gate or other secure area.
